push the little daisies...

I took this one for a garden story at the Two River Times. It didn't run, but I like it.

Glass Recycling

This is part of a story I did about glass recycling in Missoula. Up until recently, the city strangely enough didn't recycle glass. An independent company called Big Sky Rock Works just started collecting glass on its own, and then hired BFI to help so that they could grind it up and use it in construction. They make sand as well as bigger chunks which they mix with cement for projects like this sturdy and aesthetically pleasing driveway.

Liquid Louie's

Last spring I went to Condon, Mont. for a photo story I was doing on small-town bars. I ended up spending two weekends at Liquid Louie's getting to know the bar and its patrons. This is Harvey Rocker, a "tramp log-peeler" who kind of kept to himself. The rest of the bar was like a big family, and he was just outside of it. I keep meaning to go back up there, but haven't gotten around to it. Hopefully Harvey still lives there so I can give him a copy of this photo.

Asbury Park

This summer they opened up the arcade that joins Asbury Park and Ocean Grove; I took this picture on a dreary June day when it was eerily deserted.

Atlantic Highlands Fireman's Fair

I am officially cementing my status as a dork by starting a blog.
I'm going to try and get rid of older pictures first, and then maybe get current. That is assuming I don't get too bored or lazy and this thing continues past week three. We'll see.
Spanks,
Monica
